Anyone who knows me well enough, knows I am a huge Star Wars fanboi. From reading virtually every book out there (RIP Expanded Universe, burn in hell Disney) and playing just about every game out there, and of course watching and dissecting every movie/show Star Wars related. Of course, I like to go back and read/play everything for pure nostalgia’s sake.
A close friend of mine mentioned he was going to play Star Wars Jedi Academy here soon, and it immediately struck an urge in me to play all of the old Star Wars classics. I’m talking about the Dark Forces series, Mysteries of the Sith, Jedi Knight Outcast, Jedi Academy, and a few other small-time ones as well.
One I am really looking forward to diving in to again is Mysteries of the Sith. While being released in 1998, and being heavily outdated, I still feel a sense of refreshment when I think of the times I spent playing it and watching videos of the gameplay. Growing up as a kid, Mysteries of the Sith was one of the first PC games I ever dove in to, and I explicitly remember trying to always dismember a stormtroopers arm with my lightsaber. I look forward to doing it again.
Of course, Jedi Academy will be a blast to run though as well. While I much prefer Jedi Knight Outcasts story, the gameplay of Jedi Academy is just too good to pass up on. It was also probably one of the first multiplayer games I ever booted up, and from what I hear, the multiplayer is still going strong for the game.
I could go on and on, but needless to say, I am pretty excited to be reliving my childhood games this weekend and throughout next week.
I suppose this is the break I could really use. I made a post a few weeks ago regarding my lack of interest and distaste with Eve Online. Really, my distaste is just with MMORPGs in general I guess. I’ve stuck it out with Star Wars: The Old Republic the past few weeks only because of the in-depth story, I enjoy the PVP, and it is star wars.
Maybe bouncing off to older games, of a simpler time will refresh my interest. Though, I would be lying if I said Eve Online hasn’t been creeping up on me lately. In my previous statement regarding Eve, I made it very clear that I did not like the direction I was going, or the corporation/alliance I was with. However, since I do keep contact with everyone in that group, they’ve moved out of Tenerefis and have moved to Fountain, taking up the vacuum that Black Legion left behind.
Honestly, it excites me a bit more, but I’ll wait out a bit longer before jumping back in to Eve. Though, it does seem in the future I’ll be returning (But then again, who DOESN’T return to Eve.)
And yes, I recently watched Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure.
And be excellent to each other.
Drink up, and fly dangerously!
